SEPTEMBER CHALLENGE

Hello to all our followers , yes a tad late this month but better late than never i say ..
Well we dont have a winner for last month as we only got one entry but a huge thank you to Denise who plays along each month with us .
Now this month we start something a little different we are replacing the sketch with a HOT CHOCOLATE challenge so based on the image below we would like to see you create a layout using chocolate/brown cardstock base and the image provided ...there are only 2 rules to this challenge and that is you must use brown card stock for the base colour and you must have loads of FUN doing the challenge lol.

Good afternoon ladies !!

I have had major computer problems, apologies for this late post, but it is still Monday!

For Birthdays I usually try and make my invitations for my girls, and this one was such a hit with the Mums and the girls I wanted to share.

In February I organised a party for Ella who turned 9. We had a fun themed party - we had old fashioned games like bobbing for apples, donut eating from string (no hands) I set up a photobooth with lots of dress ups and I set up a lolly buffet, we also had a slushie machine! Ella and her friends had a great time!

So here are photos of a copy of the invitation and another of a green paper flower on top of a present.

Because these paper flowers are made from scrapbook paper they are very sturdy.
I thought I might do red and green flowers (on plain paper like kraft) for Christmas.

Monday Mojo in the afternoon

Hello everyone,

It's my turn for Monday Mojo so here it is. I have just completed this box after having in my stash for about 12 months. It was one of those "one day" projects that I have so many of. I think the box is from Twiddleybitz but I'm not entirely sure of that since I opened it and assembled it as soon as I bought it (and threw away the packaging - doh!!). I have wanted to play with using napkins and modge podge for ages so that's what I decided to do on here. The flowers I cut out using grunge paper and tulle with the Tattered Florals die. The draw handles are sewing machine cotton spools and buttons. I wanted the rose on the buttons to stand out a bit more so I poured a drop of alcohol ink over the buttons.

Mojo Monday

Hey there,
This is Holly with my very first Mojo Monday post here at Budz. Its been great fun being on the design team, with some exciting challenges to inspire.

Yesterday I went shopping for some party supplies for my husbands upcoming 30th birthday party. It was at our local Spotlight store, which is a big craft and homewares store in Australia. They recently begun stocking Kaisercraft products and I had been hunting down a particular OTP item, the scrapbook organiser, which I found in store, along with the May release Chapter One collection.

This is the end result of my unexpected purchase:

Sorry the photos are not the best. They were taken in doors at night but hopefully you get an idea.

What I love most about this item is the tool and ribbon storage compartments, as you can see where the holes are. It will be a great way to motivate me into keeping a neater workspace, as I am the queen of mess otherwise.

Here it is loaded up with a few bits and pieces and some ribbon and lace peeping through the holes.

When it comes to off the page projects, many need sanding and filing and today I pulled out a chiesel which did a fabulous job of smoothing the excess pieces. Otherwise I believe Kaiser makes their own file kit for this purpose, as normal sand paper is often not so effective. Also it is important to keep in mind that the wood can swell with paint and other mediums, so be aware of this when it comes time to put everything together. I always use my pieces as a stencil for cutting out my patterend papers, then try to put the item together, paint the exposed areas and then stick on the patterned papers after this. On this particular item I also applied some mod podge around the tool and ribbon holes, to ensure they were nice and firm for lots of use.

Monday Mojo

Good morning,
Welcome to my first post as part of my role at Scrapbudz.

I attended the Paperific Expo in Melbourne a few weeks ago and when I saw this Combi Van at Twiddleybitz, I had to try it myself. I am not a big OTP maker but I thought this could go in the bathroom for the kids.

With a touch of paint, some stamped flowers, a few embellies, a family holiday snap and few words, I loved the end result.

Mojo Monday.

Hi everyone its kerry here, welcome to mojo monday and to my very first post!!! I am a little bit nervous and excited.

I thought i would do a post on making some very simple banners. Banners have been around for a little while now and can be a very effective embellishment to your page, card or OTP. As well they can be something to add to both boys and girl pages, which is great as i tend to struggle with boy embellishments.

I am showing you how to do these today with an old dictionary. I have a pile of these triangles all ready cut on my desk, so its quick and easy to whip one up. You could also do these with patterned paper, which would be a great way to use up your scraps.

Firstly, cut a strip of paper. I cut mine 1 inch wide. Obviously cut it bigger or smaller depending on what size you would like. I just cut my triangles freehand!! Thats just me, i never measure anything.

I have also for this sample cut two different shapes, and i always ink around the edges, to make them stand out.

Then grab a piece of twine and a stapler, and staple them on. No need for tape or glue. Just make sure that your twine is sitting in the little indent in your stapler and you wont miss.

And here is your finished product!! Very easy.

And here it is on this layout. Again i just stapled it on the layout.

Just a little tip that i was told recently by my friend ali, is that if you only have a normal stapler like me, and it dosent reach far into your layout, open your stapler up and put a piece of foam under your layout and staple away. I use an eraser instead of foam though, then turn your layout over and push the sides of your staple down!!

Monday Mojo

Hi everyone!! I'm so happy to be able to share my first Monday Mojo post with you!! It's very exciting to be part of the Scrapbudz Design Team!! There's some very talented ladies here!! And I'm very thankful to Eve for asking me to be part of the team!!!

For the mojo........Are you like me? Do you buy scrap products, and then realize that you already own them? Have you done that with inks and embossing powders? How about stamps? I have! I've even bought a Tim Holtz die that I not only own, but had already used!!! That's pretty bad!!

About a month ago, I decided that I really needed to get organized!! I started with my dies, and I'm still working on the stamps!! I've moved a bunch of stuff, so I had easier access to it, and I relegated the seasonal stuff to less desirable real estate. I'm sure that by now, you're wondering what this has to do with Monday Mojo.

Well....I'm making myself a Scrapbook Catalog!! In it I'll keep lists of various scrap products that I have, including dies, cartridges, inks, embossing powders and stamp sets. Of course, I'll have have a wish list in there too!!! Now, I could have chosen an everyday binder to put all this in, but what's the fun in that?!!! So here's what I've made....

I started with a kit, that I got on sale....

Of course I needed to add some more pretty papers to it.....

Love these gorgeous papers!!!! With some mini tabs, they'll become extra dividers. I really wasn't planning on covering over that ledger paper, but I had a misshap. Actually, I started stamping on the cover, and it turned out pretty good. Then I realized that the ink colors I'd chosen, just didn't match the look I was going for!! So I had to cover it. Here's what I did.....

Step 1

Choose pretty papers, and glue over your chipboard, I covered both sides and I used gel medium, but mod podge, or any glue will work as well. Let sit a minute, then sand the edges clean. Add some distress inks to the edge of the paper. If your chipboard is thick, don't forget to ink up the sides as well.

Step 2

Choose the colors and embellies you want to work with. Wait....maybe that should have been step 1!!

Step 3

This is where I start playing with placement. Start with the biggest embellie, in my case, it was the diecut strips, the flowers and the large leaves. Once you get the look that you're going for, go ahead and start glueing the bigger pieces. Here's a closeup of the left side......
Step 4

Now for the fun part.....start placing smaller embellies around your flowers or larger pieces. You want to incorporate matching colors, as well 'pops' of brighter colors. Those little pops, really invigorate your projects!! Once you like the pieces as well as the placement, go ahead and start glueing.

Step 5

Continue in this manner until you are pleased with the look. Hint: if you decide to add 'pops' of color, make sure you put it in several areas around your project, otherwise that one pop is where your eye will focus!! Of course, if that's the look you're going for, then go for it!! Here's a closeup of the right side.....

The title......

Love printing my titles on pretty papers!!! Do you see the transparency above? I didn't stamp that. Nope! You know how your stamps come with a little acrylic sheet to cover them.....yep!! A wonderful bonus to organizing my stamps!!! Check out the closeup, you'll see some more of these.....

The little leaves were made using another of those sheets. I used alcohol inks on the back side, and cut with deckle edged scissors.

Step 6

Now that your covers are done, and put together, go ahead and add some fibers, and ribbons to your binding. I also added some beads and charms to the top binding ring.

So there you have it!! This is a fairly easy project to do, although it can be time consuming. And the best part is, that you can go for any look, clean & simple, elegant, shabby, vintage or retro. You can use very few or lots of embellies. The choice is yours!! Me....I like the 'more is more' look!! But you never would have guessed that!!!

More recently I married my partner of nine years, who enjoys his own creative hobby as a musician. When I am not scrapbooking, I actually work as a psychologist in a correctional facility. It is an interesting and challenging role at times, therefore I always find plenty of time to scrap, as it is my ultimate way to wind down after a long day at work. My scrapbook style tends to vary to suit the theme and there is nothing I love more than participating in an online challenge. Hi everyone! My name is Lynne Woolgar and I’m a scrapper!!!
I started scrapping in the early ‘90s, and although I enjoyed the process, I made very few layouts. It took me 5 years to get one album done! Fast forward to 2004; a divorce and a major move back to Florida, changed all of that. Funny how, my scrapbook supplies were the only arts & crafts items that I brought with me. I worked on a few pages during the next few years, but concentrated more on home decorating, sewing, and floral arranging. While out shopping one day, I picked up a magazine that inspired me to venture into a new art form – collages. Still working on that one! Of course, if you are making collages, you need pretty papers, stamps, inks, all of the lovely supplies you need to do scrapbooking! Boy was there a lot of new stuff out there. At about the same time, my daughter, Ashley, announced that she was pregnant. Well, that was it….I had to document her pregnancy and the baby shower, and the birth, and the footprints, and the smile, and the…….everything!!! Now, I’m hooked!
In the last 7 years, I have learned so many new techniques, and found so many wonderful products, that I don’t think I’ll ever catch up! Scrapping has become a way of life for me. Not only is it my creative outlet and escape, it has also helped me to regain some sanity in my hectic life. My style? It varies quite a bit, from child themes, to very simple layouts, to vintage romantic chic…my fave! I love to mix the modern with the vintage style. And, I’m always looking for new ideas and techniques to try out, and to pass on, of course!! At the beginning of September, 2009, I finally decided to join the blog world, and www.MyMadkow.typepad.com was born. And that birthing process was very difficult. You see……I am technologically challenged!!! But I made it through, and now, I love it!! I am also learning Adobe Photoshop Elements, a wonderful Christmas gift from my parents!

Hi everyone

Nes s here today to share with you a lovely little accordion tag book by K&Co, quick and easy with everything supplied, including instructions. Although I did add a few things from my own stash to be a little different.

I haven't followed the instructions completely, I have made mine more like a mini album where as K&Co have it folding out to stand on a shelf.

These make for a great gift, especially if you are in a hurry and need something quick.
There are no photos in mine as I am going to be giving this as a gift.

A couple of pics to show you what you get in these little kits.

Step 1.

Ink or paint around the edges of each wood tag

Using the adhesive paper supplied in the kit, adhere to your first chipboard tag. You will probably find that you need to use additional glue as I found the adhesive paper didn't stay stuck too well.

Step 2.

Adhere pink paper on top of background, trim and adhere your photo (if you are not using photos then just skip the photo part.

Step 3.

Add green corner and large green rose from the dimensional stickers supplied to top right corner of photo and bottom left of photo (see image below)

Step 4.

Tie ribbon through the tag hole and trim.

Step 5.

As previous tag take your next adhesive paper and adhere to the 2nd chipboard tag.

Step 6.

Using craft glue, adhere the pocket to the bottom of the 2nd tag by running a thin strip of glue on the sides and the bottom of the pocket.

Step 7.

Adhere shape at top of tag covering the hold (Optional: tiny brads may be used to decorate however these are not included in the kit).

Step 8.

Adhere decorative doilie at top right side of tag (as shown in the image).

Step 9.

Tie string through each button and trim. Glue on top of pocket as shown.

Step 10.

If adding a photo you could trim the photo with pinking shears to get a nice decorative edge, slip into the pocket on an angle. As mine doesn't have a photo I have used some paper in place ready for a photo to be mounted in place. I have also added a lace flower from my stash to the top right overlapping the doilie.

Step 11.

As you have done for each of the other chipboard tags, adhere your adhesive paper to the 3rd tag.

Step 12.

Using craft glue adhere the pocket to the bottom of the third tag by running a thin strip of glue on the sides and the bottom of the pocket.

Step 13.

Adhere "Remember" dimensional sticker on top of pocket.

Step 14.

Tie string through button and glue to the top of the tag.

Step 15.

Tie ribbon to the top of the die cut tag as shown, slide both tags into pocket.

Step 16.

Adhere your next paper to your chipboard tag. Using a piece of paper cut down to size, adhere dimensional stickers to hole at top of tag, corner and small rose ash shown below.

Step 17.

The final chipboard tag. Cover as per the previous tags, I have torn a sfew pieces for something a little diferent. Adhere 2 tags, here I have added from my stash another sticker to the base of one tag. Adhere another small dimensional rose to the top of the tag.

I have added additional papers and sticker to this kit, covered all the backs of the tags to make it more like a mini album. If you wanted to have it stand on a shelf and not a mini album then you could just paint the back and you wouldn't need to add anything additional to this kit.

Mojo Monday on a Tuesday

Hi all, Annette here ... I had a bit of a problematic Monday sooo a bit late posting this ....
I have these beautiful patterned papers, embellishments & journalling spots by Kaiser from the 'English Rose' collection ... check them out & buy them from here...
After completing a couple of LOs I decided to use some scraps for cards to have at the ready ....

I cut my cardstock 15cm x 22cm, score at 11cm & fold,
patterned paper/papers are cut to combine to or be 10.5cm x 14.5cm ....
using scraps of punched paper, ribbons, flowers & chipboard plus odds & ends from your stash
all combine to make very pretty & inexpensive cards that are treasured by the receiver...
please be encouraged to make cards.. it is fun

Monday Mojo

Hello everyone......my turn to post something to get the mojo into action!!! Only this time I'm asking for a little help also. I found this jewellery stand in the shape of a dress form and thought it was just beautiful but thought it definitely needed altering. I had a major stash of Green Tara roses and thought they would be perfect wrapped around the skirt of the dress form. So I set about wrapping each individual rose around the skirt and filling in all the gaps. It's been a good way to put a major dent into my flower stash. The larger roses I found in a couple of cheap shops and the multi coloured one I altered using alcohol inks.
This is the front of the dress.......

I also sewed some ruffled trim and beaded ribbon around the bottom of the skirt to "hem" it off.
I have these Green Tara sprays that I plan on adding as wings and the feather wings I hope to put over the top of the sprays.

This is how I am hoping the sprays will sit......

The necklace below I found at a second hand shop and hope to use it around the waist with the dangle bit hanging down the back of the skirt. The beads all fit perfectly around the waist and I would just cut off the excess chain.

The pink flower trim is going to go around the top of the skirt to cover the chain from the necklace and to cover the join between the skirt and the top that I have to make. The flower trim will hopefully look like the "hem" of the top or the top "hem" of the skirt.

So my problem is....I am asking for suggestions on how to make the top. I would like to make some kind of corset for it but am not sure how to go about it. The biggest problem is the bust is about 23cm round and the waist is about 15cm round. Oh to have a shape like that....LOL!! And then I am wondering if I make the top out of paper or material......
I hope then to add a bit more decoration to the top to pretty it up a bit more.
The local rep from Green Tara came into LSS one day when I was sitting there winding roses on and said that I definitely have to send photos of it to Green Tara when I am finished.

Hi all well here we are again with a new month of fun filled challenges

Leticia Seki

My name is Leticia Seki, I'm 29 and I'm from Brazil.
I´m a wife in love with my hubby Reina and a blessed mother to have my daughter Melissa (Mel).
I do scrapbooking since 2006 and now It´s in my vein (I breath scrapbook!). My inspiration has always been my little daughter Mel.
I started making altered and pages, alone.
Since that day I saw that scrapbooking would be my new job, joined with my most enjoyable hobby. And this makes me very happy!
The scrapbooking is more than a hobby for me, because it gives me great joy to be able to teach what I know and what I learn with talented people!
I love scrapbooking and give myself completely in body and soul to everything that surrounds this wonderful art.
As I said, scrapbooking is more than a hobby for me, is all I am!!!

My name is Vanessa but everyone calls me Ness. I'm 40 years young and live in Sunny Queensland, Australia. I live with my husband, Andrew (happily married for 20 years) and our 3 girls - Sarah, Shannon and Chloe. I love them to bits!

I am definitely a girly-girl and love to have fun just being myself (crazy at times LOL!!). I have had a love for arts and crafts for as long as I can remember. Have tried almost everything over the time but have found that Scrapbooking is my passion. I started scrapbooking in 2001. I am thankful I have a very understanding and wonderful husband, and girls who support my passion. My girls are almost always my main scrapping subject. I have spread out into designing sketch and loving it.

DAY ONE OF SCRAPBUDZ BLOG

Hello everyone it has been a long time coming but I am pleased to announce the day is finally here and we are launching 3 new challenges for you today .
We are also announcing a new member to the Design Team .
But firstly our challenges ....
Each month the Designers will be setting you a challenge we currently have

Inspiration
challenges will close on the last day of each month and you can email them to us ,they will then be displayed in the corresponding pages here on the blog, we will then randomly select a winner for each category , at this stage we are only a challenge site with no prizes but he are hoping to be sponsored in the future , but from time to time we will give out a random prize .

This position is open to australian and international girls and is for a 6 month term .
